Names of God Pt 7

Names of God

The Spirit of Beloved Identity

TEXT: 1 John 2:15
BACKGROUND

v.15
These words may be rephrased as “stop loving the world.”

John’s readers were acting in a way that was inconsistent with the relationship with Christ.

“World” here is the morally evil system opposed to all that God is and holds dear.

In this sense, the “world” is the satanic system opposing Christ’s kingdom on this earth.

v.16
Lust of the flesh refers to desires of sinful sensual pleasure.

The lust of the eyes refers to covetousness or materialism.

The pride of life refers to being proud about one’s position in this world.

So many people look at their future through the lenses of their past sin or mistakes.

Most believers never come into the full revelation of whether are in Christ.

The spirit of Beloved Identity is the opposite of the spirit of abandonment.

We have separated people, with our words, from the love of God that they walk in a spirit of abandonment that doesn’t exist.

The American western culture church has been more of the problem than the answer.

We know less about who we are and who He has called us to be than any other generation in the history of the church.

Romans 8:15

I can’t think rightly about others until I see myself rightly as the beloved of God.

Scripture was intended to be a love letter to use.

God never intended to give us a book.

Man divided it.

He wanted to give us a letter and man made it a textbook.

Now, we try to use it as a text book instead of a letter.

A letter reveals the heart of writer regarding the reader.

It is not a textbook to educate you about who He is.

Proverbs 4:7

Understanding the revelation of who we really are.

Shame is not a tool that God uses.

James 1:17 - “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…..”

Shame and anxiety and discouragement and depression are not of God. If you are experiencing those things, bind them in Jesus name.

The American gospel is rooted in shame.

Romans 8:31

When you know that He is for you and not against you, correction becomes an honor.

John 5:38

Proverbs 9:10

There are no degrees of righteousness.

You either have Christ’s righteousness or your righteousness.

Isaiah 64:6
