Enter His Gates (Prison Gate)

Enter His Gates

Prison Gate

Nehemiah 12:39 The Prison Gate was located to the right of the Sheep Gate and to the left of the Inspection Gate.

It was where the two processions stood still and gave thanks before entering the temple during the dedication ceremony of the completed wall around Jerusalem.

The Prison Gate was the gate where the prisoners entered the prison.

It is not a gate for the Christian to enter.

The Prison Gate causes us to ask the question: “Is there a hell and can we avoid it?”

Luke 16:19-28
Hell is for those who reject Christ, they become indifference, indulge in sin and infidelity resulting in death without God and without hope.

We see this rich man on earth and then her appears in hell with the capacity to see and recognize people, hear, speak, feel and remember.

He had a tongue, eyes, memory, intelligence, feelings, emotions, will, voice, and the power to reason.

The nameless rich man had five brothers, and the poor man was given a proper name: Lazarus.

Jesus was reminding us that hell is personal, and this story is about you and me.”

Whether hell is a location or a condition or both is not the issue today, though I believe it is a real place.

Jesus spoke of hell as a place.

It is an unseen realm, for that is the meaning of the word hades or hell.

It is a place that is associated with suffering because the rich man in the story calls it “this place of torment.”

It is a place into which souls pass after death. What is more importantly clear, is that hell is a fact.”

Lazarus was lying at the gate in order to draw attention to the cruelty paid to his body and to prevent the rich man from saying, “I did not notice him. He was in a corner. I could not see him. No one announced him to me.”

He was laying at the gate. You saw him every time you went out and every time you came in. YOU SAW HIM!

Lazarus - one who has been helped.

He is not a helper but one who has been helped. He was a poor man, and in his poverty, the Lord came to his assistance.

I think that we have proved that Christ did not object to the riches of the rich man but to his pride, cruelty, busyness and lack of compassion.

Matthew 25:31-46
2 Thessalonians 1:7–10
Matthew 8:12
Matthew 7:13–14 - the narrow way
Revelation 21:8
John 3:16–17
John 1:12
Ephesians 2:8-9 - “by grace you have been saved through faith…..”

Hell is a place of:
a) unquenchable fire;
b) memory and remorse
c) thirst
d) misery and pain - Revelation 14:10-11
e) frustration and anger - Matthew 13:42,51
f) separation - Revelation 2:11
and
g) unstoppable wrath - Revelation14:10

Hell was not prepared for you. You’re not suppose to go there.

God loves you and has a wonderful plan for life, but you can’t separate that love from the owners manual.

He lifted us up out of the depths of despair that we could never get ourselves out of.

We were all in the same, boat until Jesus came along.
