Enter His Gates

Valley Gate

The fourth gate in the wall surrounding Jerusalem is the “Valley Gate which led to the Valley of Hinnom;
A valley is a low place, often rough and dangerous. Because of the water in the ground the valley is the place that most growth takes place.
For those who trust in the Lord, even the “valley of the shadow of death” is a place where we can find his strength, compassion, and peace.
The valleys of life can bring great trials. You may find yourself in the middle of a valley. Many in our church are facing valleys, but hold on to the hand of the Man Who can calm the storm.
Whatever circumstances you may be facing, you can declare with great hope these words: “I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
The rod and the staff speak of discipline and protection.
Both are necessary to show us God’s loving heart and to help us mature in our Christian lives.
The valley is a place to learn humility and learn to rely on God’s strength. The valley will remind us that none of us are above the enemies attack.
How we walk through the valley is an indicator to the Father of how we will walk on the mountain top.
Our flesh or sin nature wants to be independent, self-sufficient, and in control of our own destiny.
1 Kings 20
Samuel 30
“It is in the quiet crucible of your personal, private sufferings that your noblest dreams are born, and God’s greatest gifts are given in compensation for what you have been through.” - Wintley Phipps
Moses told the people in Deuteronomy 8:7, “For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills.”
The worship song “Hills and Valleys” by Tauren Wells says this:
“On the mountains, I will bow my life
To the One who set me there
In the valley, I will lift my eyes
To the One who sees me there
When I'm standing on the mountain
I didn't get there on my own
When I'm walking through the valley
I know I am not alone!
You're God of the hills and valleys
Hills and valleys
God of the hills and valleys
And I am not alone!”
