Everlasting God

Main Text: Isaiah 9:6
Luke 2

The Father is not the Son.
The Father is not the Holy Spirit.
But, The Father is God.

The Son is not the Father.
The Son is not the Holy Spirit.
But, The Son is God.

The Holy Spirit is not the Father.
The Holy Spirit is not the Son.
But, The Holy Spirit is God.

Trinity - not modalism - not one with 3 characters.

Jesus was born in to the middle of mess to redeem man kind.

Matthew 1:21 - “you shall name Him.”

Only the love of a Father would send a begotten Son down to the middle of our mess to
rescue us.

Begotten - Jesus had no beginning and was the eternal Son of God as part of the triune
essence or Godhead.

1 John 4:7-19

This is precisely what it means for God to be Father.

When John writes “God is love” at the end of verse 8, he is clearly referring to the Father.

His very next words, in verse 9, state: “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent
his one and only Son.”

The God who is love is the Father who sends his Son.

To be the Father, then, means to love, to give out life, to beget the Son.

Before anything else, for all eternity, this God was loving, giving life to and delighting in
his Son.

A Father is one who has begotten a child; one who gives origin to; a generator.
God as Father is the great cause, the cause of all life, all being.

There is only one source from which all living ideas and all living objects proceed.

We call this source the Father.

Romans 8:12-17
